The Science

Skincare the skin
recognises.

The science of Shata Dhauta Ghrita — 100-times washed ghee.

Two forms of ghee-based care your skin’s barrier instinctively understands. A philosophy rooted in Ayurvedic wisdom, preserved through generations. Prepared slowly, by hand, with patience, process, and reverence.

The Botanicals

Every ingredient, traceable.

Shata Dhauta Ghrita is the foundation. Around it sits a small, deliberate set of botanicals, oils and actives — each chosen for what it does, sourced from where it grows best.

A2 Gir Cow Ghee

गोघृत

The cornerstone of every TVAH formulation, A2 Gir cow ghee is naturally rich in lipids, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants that help replenish the skin barrier, improve moisture retention, and support soft, healthy-looking skin. Inspired by centuries of Ayurvedic wisdom and refined for modern skincare, it delivers nourishment that the skin recognises and responds to.

Origin

Made from the A2 milk of free-grazing Gir cows, prepared by hand using the traditional Bilona method.

The Supporting Cast

Actives, butters & cold-pressed oils.

Saffron Extract

केसर

A prized botanical rich in antioxidants — saffron supports skin radiance and helps improve the appearance of dullness. Known for brightening and smoothing the look of uneven tone, while giving skin a naturally luminous finish.

Origin Harvested from the delicate stigmas of Crocus sativus, primarily from Kashmir.

Astaxanthin

एस्टैक्सैंथिन

6000 times more powerful than vitamin c with natural uvb filters. Astaxanthin helps defend against the oxidative stress that accelerates visible ageing — supporting a firmer, smoother appearance and boosting radiance over time.

Origin Derived from Haematococcus pluvialis microalgae, found in pristine freshwater environments worldwide.

Turmeric Ferment

हल्दी

A bioavailable modern form of turmeric enhanced through fermentation, allowing deeper penetration and improved efficacy. Calms inflammation, reduces visible redness, and protects against environmental stressors while brightening tone.

Origin Fermented from Curcuma longa root native to India, using traditional fermentation methods.

Centella Asiatica

मण्डूकपर्णी

Also known as Gotu Kola — a soothing botanical that calms stressed skin and supports repair. Helps reduce redness and sensitivity while promoting a healthier, more resilient barrier.

Origin A medicinal herb native to the wetlands of Asia, used in Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine.

Rose Water

गुलाब जल

Naturally soothing and hydrating — rose water or rose hydrosol refreshes the skin and supports a balanced complexion. Calms visible redness and gives skin a soft, comforted feel, ideal for sensitive or reactive skin.

Origin Steam-distilled from Rosa damascena petals, traditionally sourced from Kashmir, Kanauj, Bulgaria, Turkey and Iran.

Niacinamide

नियासिनामाइड

A multitasking Vitamin B3 that strengthens the skin barrier and helps reduce the appearance of uneven tone and texture. Supports oil balance and improves the look of enlarged pores and dullness.

Origin A water-soluble form of Vitamin B3, synthesised for optimal bioavailability and skin penetration.

Camel Milk

ऊँट का दूध

Contains naturally occurring alpha-hydroxy acids like lactic acid, which gently exfoliate and improve the look of dullness and uneven texture. Valued for supporting softer, smoother skin and aiding clarity over time.

Origin Ethically sourced from desert regions of Rajasthan and the Middle East, where camels are traditionally raised.

Olive Oil

जैतून का तेल

A classic emollient rich in fatty acids and antioxidants — helps reduce transepidermal water loss and improves skin softness. Supports barrier comfort and long-lasting hydration.

Origin Pressed from olives grown in the Mediterranean basin, with centuries of traditional use in skincare.

Wood-Pressed Almond Oil

बादाम का तेल

A vitamin-rich oil — especially Vitamin E — known for softening and smoothing skin texture. Improves the appearance of dryness and supports elasticity.

Origin Cold-pressed from sweet almonds, historically cultivated across the Himalayas, Mediterranean and now California.

Castor Oil

अरंडी का तेल

A dense, omega-rich oil known for sealing moisture into the skin. Supports barrier repair, improves the look of dryness, and leaves skin feeling deeply conditioned and protected.

Origin Pressed from the seeds of Ricinus communis, native to the Indian subcontinent and East Africa.

Turmeric Oil

हल्दी का तेल

Rich in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds — calms redness and supports clearer-looking skin while protecting against oxidative stress.

Origin Steam-distilled from the rhizomes of Curcuma longa, primarily sourced from India and Southeast Asia.

Pumpkin Seed Oil

कद्दू के बीज का तेल

Rich in essential fatty acids, zinc and antioxidants — supports firmness and resilience while making skin feel stronger and more balanced.

Origin Cold-pressed from roasted pumpkin seeds, traditionally produced in Austria and Central Europe.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil

मेडोफोम बीज तेल

One of the most oxidation-stable oils used in skincare. Mimics the skin's sebum and seals in moisture without feeling greasy — ideal for both dry and sensitive skin.

Origin Cold-pressed from the seeds of Limnanthes alba, native to the Pacific Northwest of North America.

Vitamin E

विटामिन ई

A protective antioxidant that supports skin repair and barrier strength — shields skin from dryness and environmental stress while improving softness.

Origin Naturally derived from plant oils including wheat germ, sunflower and safflower.

Crafted without preservatives. 100% organic, plant- and dairy-derived actives.

The ancient art

In Ayurvedic texts dating back thousands of years, Shata Dhauta Ghrita is described as a divine preparation for the body. The process involves washing Gir cow's ghee with clean water exactly one hundred times.

This transformation isn't just physical — it's alchemical. The ghee loses its heavy, greasy quality and gains a cooling, deeply penetrating nature that the skin readily absorbs.

Why 100 Times?

Each wash is intentional. Each wash transforms. One hundred isn't arbitrary — it's the threshold where ghee transcends its original form.

Deep Penetration

The small molecular structure allows it to penetrate deeper into skin layers, not just sit on top.

Cooling Effect

The 100-times-washing process transforms ghee into a cooling, lightweight cream.

Time-Honored

This isn't a shortcut or trend — it's a process refined over millennia of Ayurvedic practice.

The 100-Wash Process

So why wash ghee 100 times in copper? The process matters. Rooted in Ayurvedic pharmaceutics, copper is traditionally valued as part of the process because Ayurveda recognises that the vessel, along with washing, churning, time, and water, can influence the final preparation.

Roots to copper to skin.

Step 01

Gir Cow A2 Milk

We start with A2 milk from Gir cows — a breed native to India known for producing the purest form of beta-casein protein. Only A2 beta-casein. Richer in essential fatty acids. No factory farms, no hormones.

Step 02

Traditional Bilona Churning

The milk is hand-churned into butter using the traditional bilona method, then slowly converted into ghee over a low flame. This preserves the fatty acid structure that industrial processing destroys.

Step 03

100 Washes in Copper Vessels

The ghee is washed exactly 100 times in purified water using copper vessels. Each cold wash removes heavy lipid molecules, creating an increasingly translucent, lighter-than-air cream. What remains is light enough to absorb, not just sit on the surface.

Step 04

Your Skin Recognises It

The molecular structure of the final cream is so close to your skin's natural sebum that it absorbs completely. No clogged pores. No residue. Deep hydration your skin understands as its own language.

The Foundation

A2 Ghee

Because some ingredients have always understood care.
For centuries, ghee has held a revered place in Indian wellness rituals—valued for its richness, nourishment, and deep connection to everyday healing traditions. For the skin, ghee offers lipid-rich comfort that helps soften, condition, and support lasting hydration.

Traditional Craft

The art of ghee

Made through a slow, time-honoured process, ghee begins as cultured butter and transforms into liquid gold through patience, slow heat, and careful attention.
At TVAH, we honour this craft not as nostalgia, but as a living tradition—reimagined for modern skincare.

01

Churning

Fresh cream is churned into butter, separating the fat from the buttermilk.

02

Simmering

Butter is slowly heated, allowing water to evaporate and milk solids to separate.

03

Clarifying

The golden liquid is slowly strained, leaving behind pure, stable ghee—rich, luminous, and deeply nourishing.

Ancient Origins

More than 5,000 years of wisdom

A tradition of care, carried through time. Long before skincare became complicated, ghee was revered in Indian tradition as a symbol of nourishment, purity, and restoration.

Ayurvedic wisdom describes ghee as one of the most cherished forms of care—softening, comforting, and carrying nourishment with remarkable depth. At TVAH, we honour this tradition through ghee-based skincare designed for modern skin: rich in lipids, refined in texture, and created to leave skin feeling soft, supple, and deeply cared for.

Why TVAH ghee is different

At TVAH, the quality of our ghee begins long before formulation.
We use A2 ghee made from the milk of free-grazing Gir cows, raised with care in open pastures, natural sunlight, and a rhythm closer to nature. In Indian tradition, Gir cows have long been valued for their resilience, vitality, and strength—qualities shaped by the land, climate, and environment they belong to. For us, this is not just sourcing. It is a return to purity, provenance, and intentional care.

The milk is collected only after the calf has been fed first, honouring a practice rooted in compassion and respect. It is then cultured and prepared using the traditional Bilona method, where curd is slowly churned and the butter is gently simmered into ghee. This slow, low-intervention process helps preserve the natural richness, aroma, and integrity of the ghee. Nothing is rushed, because at TVAH, the journey of the ingredient matters as much as the final formulation. Our sourcing is supported by internal documentation and careful supplier selection, allowing us to remain true to our standards while protecting the privacy of our source. Every batch begins with care—before it ever touches your skin.
